Mallorca cont....

We've been home now for two weeks and I'm finally getting around to posting something about our trip! We had a very relaxing time in Costa de la Calma. That was the area near Santa Ponsa where we were staying with friends. It was nice to get to spend time with them in the evenings when all the kids were in bed, and of course we enjoyed hanging out during the day when they weren't busy.
They treated Davey and I to a morning alone...the kept all four our kids for us! We enjoyed a morning walking through old town Palma. It is a beautiful city, with lots of Spanish charm.
On another day we took the kids to the Palma aquarium. It is a really big aquarium, with tons of different kinds of sea life. We saw creatures that I have never seen before! (And I wanted to be a marine biologist at one time and I worked at Sea World for 3 years!) The kids were totally fascinated, and I have to admit so was I. I could sit and look at the tanks for hours! (which I used to do when I worked at Sea World I would sometimes go after work when there were less people and just sit, it is very relaxing) There were baby sharks, jellyfish, sunfish, big sharks, sea horses, stingrays and fish that looked like they swam too fast and hit something (check out the photo album for a picture)! We spent 5 hours in the place with 4 small children, it had to be interesting!
Two days before we left we got to go for a boat ride with our friend who lives there. It was a mid-sized motor boat, but had quite a bit of power...enough to scare our kids when he went full throttle! The kids really enjoyed being out on the water and seeing the island from a new perspective. We went around to a smaller island called 'dragonera' (don't know about the spelling on that) that looks like a dragon laying in the water. It is a sea bird refuge so there were a ton of birds circling. We were out for about an hour and on the way home we even saw flying fish! Our friend said he had never seen them in Mallorca. He and his family were missionaries in the South Pacific and he said they saw them often there, but never in Mallorca. He went out two more times that afternoon with different people and never saw them agian. It was God's gift for our kids I think. Jesaiah had just been reading somewhere about flying fish and how far they can fly and how they do and he was soooooo excited when we saw the first one jump and sail a couple of meters. We saw three total, it was very cool! Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures, they were too fast and unpredictable.
So, yes we had a lot of fun, and relaxed at the same time. We spent quite a bit of time at the house just hanging and letting the kids play. We are so blessed!
Here are a few more pictures from our trip. I hope I didn't get too many duplicates in this album.
